About us

Services

Options is a private, nonprofit offering services that develop and maintain life skills for people with developmental disabilities or related conditions so individuals can fully participate in their community. We serve people with a wide range of abilities and interests and do everything we can to support individualized, person-centered services both in and outside of Options, Inc.

We are committed to empowering and supporting adults with disabilities in living and working in the mainstream of community life.

History

Options, Inc. was formerly known as the Sherburne Developmental Achievement Center. We first opened our doors in September of 1979 at Saron Lutheran Church in Big Lake, supporting 9 adults. At that time, many of Sherburne County’s citizens with disabilities were still living in State Hospitals. With the grassroots efforts of a few, very determined family members, our program was developed, supporting people to return to their home communities.

Throughout the years, Options continued to grow, expanding our services to facilitate employment and activities in the community. To meet our growth, we moved operations to a new, larger building in 2006.

Today, Options, Inc. provides a variety of day and employment services, to over 240 people throughout Sherburne and Northern Wright counties. Our success is the result of dynamic partnerships with people receiving our services, families, community members, employers, and Sherburne County Health & Human Services. This larger community has provided the opportunity for citizens with disabilities to pursue their dreams, assert their independence, and be part of their community.
